Researchers at Texas State are working to put academic research into practice to improve the health and wellness of people. During the AM session, learn from alumni and industry partners about Translational Health as it relates to cancer research, nutrition, health communication, aging and dementia studies, and addiction. The PM session will include speakers from the Be the Match Program and the Texas School Safety Center.

Brad Nations, '96
Vice President, Employer Solutions - ConsumerMedical
Brad Nations is the Vice President of Employer Solutions for ConsumerMedical, a digital expert opinion and medical decision support organization. In addition to his current role, Brad has spent most of his career helping to build mission-driven, healthcare start-up companies such as Extend Health and Castlight Health. These experiences have given him a front-row seat to the incredible growth that has taken place in digital health, chronic condition management, and patient engagement.  Brad has held a series of leadership roles across operations and sales and has been fortunate to work with organizations such as Amazon, Microsoft, Ford, H-E-B as well as many national health providers and insurance companies.   

Brad is also a very proud Texas State alum, having graduated with a Speech Communications degree in 1996.  During his time in San Marcos, Brad was active on campus serving in a variety of roles including Student Government President, Student Foundation, and KTSW radio host. Brad continues to stay involved with the University via speaking engagements and serving on the Advisory Board for the Wittliff Collection.  Based in San Antonio, Texas, his personal passions are focused on music, film, and cycling.  Brad is married to Patty Nations, a fellow Texas State Bobcat, with whom he has raised two incredible children.

Madeline Stein
Regional Marketing Manager for the Recruitment Team at Be The Match

Madeline Stein is a graduate of Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she double majored in Marketing and Business Management. In 2016, she joined Be The Match, initially working with the Provider Services team and then moving to her current position as a Regional Marketing Manager with the Recruitment team. In her work to support an internal sales team and student groups, as well as managing marketing campaigns and programs across the southern United States, she has aided efforts at Be The Match to add many more potential donors to the Registry.

Jon Hudson
Regional Director for Member Engagement, Enrollment and Experience at Be The Match

Jon Hudson has served within the Be The Match Network for the last 12 years in both Local and National Leadership roles. Currently, he is Regional Director for Member Engagement, Enrollment, and Experience at Be The Match.

Jon has vast experience within customer service, strategic partnership development, conflict resolution, team building, training, public speaking, and is a proven leader with a strong business and member recruitment acumen.

Each day he strives to drive collaboration with his colleagues and partners to develop and implement a strategy that complements each individual's knowledge, talent, and skill set to achieve recruitment, awareness, and financial goals. This has resulted in the growth of Be The Match’s community footprint which will lead to more lives being saved and enhanced. Jon explains, “A Be The Match donor saved my best friend's life many years ago.  It is an honor to serve the mission alongside my colleagues and partners. With this honor comes great responsibility to the patients that depend on our steadfast work. Together, we are building the foundation for future generations. We must be more relentless than the diseases that we treat.” 

 Jon lives in Sandy Oaks, Texas with his wife Maria and two children, Nathan, 11, and Aaron, 6.

Samuel Hillhouse, '12
Program Director Administrator for Central and South Texas for Be The Match

Samuel Hillhouse is a 2012 graduate from Texas State University. In 2008, he joined the Be The Match Registry at a registration drive held on campus. In 2011, he was notified that he was a perfect match for a woman in her 50s with leukemia. On August 11, 2011 Samuel became a Be The Match donor.  Samuel credits Texas State, Be The Match, and the hundreds of staff and volunteers responsible for hosting the drive for changing his life. Being a donor is the most significant thing he has ever done in his life. Samuel now works as the Be The Match Program Administrator for all activity in Central and South Texas.
